Pro bono policy

How we support eligible non-profit, charitable, and under-resourced organizations with reduced-cost or pro bono certification services.

Our Approach

Why we offer this

We believe good management practices shouldn't be out of reach for organizations doing valuable work with limited resources. Where capacity allows, PGCS offers reduced-fee or pro bono certification support to a limited number of eligible non-profit, charitable, and community organizations each year.

This isn't an open-ended commitment — our capacity for pro bono work is limited, and not every applicant can be accommodated. But we review every request we receive.

Eligibility

Who this is for

We generally prioritize applications from organizations that meet some or all of the following criteria:

Registered non-profit, charitable, or community organization with a clearly documented public benefit mission.

Limited financial capacity to cover standard certification fees, evidenced by budget or funding constraints.

A clear, demonstrable need for the certification — for example, to unlock funding, partnerships, or service delivery in a regulated area.

Organizations responding to disaster relief, humanitarian, or public health needs may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Not sure if you qualify?

Apply anyway. We assess every request individually and would rather hear from you than have you rule yourself out.

Getting Started

How to apply

1

Submit your request

Contact us with details of your organization, the certification you're seeking, and why pro bono or reduced-cost support would make a difference.

2

We review your application

We assess eligibility against the criteria above and our current capacity for pro bono engagements.

3

We confirm the outcome

We'll let you know whether we can offer pro bono support, a reduced fee, or — if we're at capacity — point you toward alternative options where we can.

Important

What stays the same

Pro bono and reduced-fee certifications are assessed with exactly the same rigor and independence as any other engagement. Reduced or waived fees never affect the outcome of an audit or certification decision — our auditors' findings are based solely on whether your management system meets the relevant standard.
